Scholz was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary investigation revealed that the other driver failed to yield to the right-of-way to the off-duty motorcycle officer while turning and struck the motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>Reportedly, Scholz was a 5-year veteran of IPD. Before joining the department, he served in the US Army,<\/p>\n<p>No additional details regarding the incident were provided.
